Research Experience

My research examined how to induce chondrogenesis in human Wharton’s Jelly Mesenchymal Stem Cells (hWJ-MSCs) using a spider silk extract and a mechano-induction approach termed nanopattern. This mixture was used as place of growth factors, which are somewhat costly. The chondrogenic marker was determined using the expression of glycosaminoglycan (GAG), type II collagen, and SOX9. To create nanoengineered chondrocytes, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) was employed as the printing surface for nanoscale designs (350 nm and 700 nm). According to the findings of this study, when compared to the 700 nm nanogroove pattern, the 350 nm nanogroove pattern coated with spider silk extract has the best potential to support chondrogenesis. Thus, it may provide a novel method for fabricating novel forms of tissue by controlling the chondrogenic differentiation of hWJ-MSCs.

Testimonial

The biotechnology master’s program offered the unique chance to grow professionally in different scientific environments. I chose this program for its exceptional scientific scope and great career opportunities. The program is affiliated with a number of notable institutions, which gives you the chance to develop strong connections within an important worldwide network. It provides extra learning opportunities and hands-on laboratory experience. My work atmosphere is really constructive and collaborative, and my colleagues keep me inspired the whole time. At Biotechnology SITH ITB, I learned what kind of researcher I wanted to be and acquired important skills in scientific writing and critical thinking.
