Research Experience

Various internship experiences in diverse backgrounds of molecular biology, genetics, medical imaging and chemistry at Queensland Institute of Medical Research; Eijkman Institute; School of Engineering, The University of Edinburgh, UK; and Åbo Akademi University, Finland; have given me a unique perspective in creating innovative ideas and tools for the application of diagnostic and vaccine development for infectious diseases. Moving forward, I want to use these skill sets in a future research focusing on the design of novel delivery systems for dengue virus vaccine.

Skills

DNA/RNA Extraction, PCR, Gel Electrophoresis, HPLC, Sequencing

Testimonial

I learned a lot regarding biotechnology’s emphasis on medical application, including vaccine development, cell engineering, and nanobiotechnology. The flexibility afforded to students in choosing courses allowed me to pick those built on my knowledge and experience. At SITH ITB, I honed my skills as a scientific researcher and learned how to design and produce recombinant proteins that can be utilized as vaccine candidates. In addition, because SITH has a lot of collaborations with industries, like Bio Farma, and also excellent universities overseas, like Medical University Lübeck, even during the COVID-19 pandemic, we still gained a lot of new pieces of knowledge through many webinars held by SITH ITB.
