Interest : I’m enthusiastic about industrial biotechnology, particularly MEOR research, the food and cosmetic industries, R&D, and quality control.

Research Experience

Utilizing a bioprocess engineering approach, I investigated increasing the production of biosurfactants by bacteria. The media and inoculum conditions were subjected to a specific engineering process. Additionally, I evaluated the properties of the biosurfactants produced, including the activity stability in a wide range of environmental conditions.

Microbial isolation and cultivation, production optimization (gene expression and metabolic production), bioprocess and fermentation, DNA extraction, PCR, and bioinformatics software competency.

Testimonial

The biotechnology program focuses on techniques and knowledge that are applicable in a variety of industries. The program allowed students to choose their own courses based on their interests. The classes I took taught me the fundamentals of skills and techniques, which I then applied to my thesis. Some of these classes are research design, microbial physiology, metabolic engineering, bioprocesses and fermentation. My exposure in this program to a wide range of laboratory techniques has proven to be particularly beneficial. All of the knowledge and experiences I’ve gained in this program helped me gain confidence in working in the laboratory and performing various research projects. Admittedly, being a part of this program provided me with additional learning and corporate opportunities
