Research Experience
My thesis focuses on optimizing DNA aptamer sequence to detect the NT-proBNP biomarker. Aptamers are single-stranded oligonucleotides, which offer various advantages compared to antibodies. This research aimed to optimize the aptamer sequence to obtain a new sequence that can interact stronger and more stably with NT-proBNP while eliminating unnecessary structural components. The aptamer sequence optimization utilizes computational modification, including sequence truncation and structure similarity-guided random mutations. The evaluation through both in silico and in vitro experiments demonstrated improvements in binding affinity, interaction stability, and biosensor sensitivity.
Skills
Basic molecular biology techniques (DNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis), bioinformatics methods including molecular simulation and analysis, gold nanoparticles synthesis via Turkevich method, UV-Vis spectrophotometry, and basic mammalian cell culture.
Testimonial
The biotechnology study program has provided me with a strong fundamental while keeping me updated on the latest trends, along with the skills and confidence I need to succeed. The lab facilities, passionate lecturers, and helpful academic environment have supported my academic and research journey. Thank you to my supervisors for the guidance and to my kind fellow students who share the same passion for biotechnology.
