Research Experience
My research focused on the development of isolation techniques and the use of white radish peroxidase (WRP) enzyme isolated from white radish as a substitute for horseradish peroxidase (HRP) in ELISA-based diagnostic systems. The reason behind this research is to develop a biosensor enzyme that can be produced using a local product. In this research, I tried to develop a simpler isolation technique to reduce laborsome steps as well as to eliminate the need of chromatography to purify the isolated protein. The isolated WRP still contain impurity and it was used to examined its potency in substituting HRP in ELISA-based diagnostic system. This experiment showed that WRP with some degree of impurity showed no potency in ELISA-based diagnostic system and that it still need further development research.
Skills
Protein isolation, spectophotometry, protein conjugation, agarose gel electrophoresis, SDS-PAGE, ELISA, diagnostic system, cell culture, DNA isolation.
Testimonial
Pursuing my master’s degree at Biotechnology Master’s Program SITH ITB has been one of my best decisions. The program provides relevant courses to today’s world and encourages interdisciplinary collaboration. Despite the ups and downs, I experienced during this study and my research, my supervisor taught me the essential things in pursuing a master’s degree and researching. He told me that the spirit of research is embracing our curiosity. Last but not least, I would like to thank my supervisors, lectures, staff, and friends who have been kindly sharing their knowledge and supporting my growth during my study in this program.
