Sekolah Ilmu dan Teknologi Hayati pada hari Selasa dan Rabu tanggal 2 – 3 Maret 2010 telah  mengadakan kuliah tamu Dr. Joseph Arditti (Professor Of Biology Emeritus University Of California) dengan tema Micropropagation and seed germination of orchids, principles and practices. Jumlah peserta seminar tamu yang hadir pada hari pertama sebanyak 30(tiga puluh) orang dan pada hari kedua 18 (delapan belas) orang.

Pada hari pertama narasumber memberikan materi mengenai :

  • Sejarah propagasi anggrek
  • Prinsip mikropropagasi anggrek

Pada hari kedua narasumber memberikan materi mengenai :

  • Prinsip dan tata kerja mikropropagasi anggrek
  • Peralatan yang digunakan
  • Sterilisasi peralatan
  • Surface sterilization
  • Intensitas cahaya yang digunakan
  • Suhu
  • pH
  • Inkubasi kultur: diam (stationary cultures) atau shaken cultures
  • Tempat kerja: Laminar flow hood
  • Jenis medium yang biasa digunakan
  • Sumber makroelemen, mikroelemen, vitamin
  • Senyawa tambahan yang biasa digunakan: air kelapa, pisang, dll
  • Penggunaan gula
  • Penggunaan zat pemadat (agar)
  • Pembuatan larutan stok
  • Prinsip germinasi biji anggrek

School of Biological Sciences and Technology on Tuesday and Wednesday, 2 to 3 March 2010 has held a guest lecture Dr. Joseph Arditti (Emeritus Professor Of Biology, University Of California) with the theme Micropropagation and seed germination of orchids, principles and practices. The number of participants who attended a seminar on the first day of 30 (thirty) and on the second day of 18 (eighteen) people.

On the first day speakers provide materials on:

  • Principles and working procedures mikropropagasi orchid

  • Sterilization
  • Surface sterilization
  • The intensity of the light used

  • The type of medium used – Source makroelemen, microelement, vitamin
  • Additional commonly used: coconut water, bananas, etc.
  • Use of sugar – the substance compactor (order) – Preparation of stock solutions
  • The principle of orchid seed germination
